The extent of the damage it has caused or where there were any casualties from the latest earthquake, which hit the same region affected by Friday’s tremors, remains unknown.
The aftershock struck while authorities in Naypyidaw were still grappling with the aftermath of Friday’s earthquake, which had damaged roads and buildings and caused disruptions to electricity, phone, and internet services.
Myanmar was rocked by a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake yesterday, followed just 11 minutes later by a 6.4-magnitude aftershock, leaving behind a trail of devastation.
The quake severely damaged buildings, bridges, historical landmarks, roads, and other public infrastructure. The epicentre of the destruction was in Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city, home to around 1.5 million people.
